Five Most Beautiful Women
Tuesday, August 31, 2010I’ve always been asked who the most beautiful women for me and I just want to share my top answers:
1. My mom

2. Kim Kardashian

3. Angelina Jolie

4. Jaymee U.

- She is the epitome of the aphorism “simplicity is beauty”. I have friends who use bunch of products to highlight their beauty but not her. She can go out of the house and just use powder but would still stand out of the crowd. We also have a lot of things in common too. (soul sisters, as what they call it) What I like about her as well is even if she’s half way around and thousand miles away from me, we still get to communicate a lot through email.
5. Andi Eigenmann

My Two Cents: What’s the biggest mistake you made in your life?
Thursday, August 26, 2010… and what did you do to make it right?
You know what sir, in my 22 years of existence, I can say that there is nothing major, major… I mean problem that I have. I am confident with my family with the love that they are giving to me so thank you so much that I am here. Thank you, thank you so much! -Venus Raj
I hope this video right here helps in justification to what transpired in the Question and Answer portion with Miss Philippines, Venus Raj during the Miss Universe pageant.
First, note the fact that it is a tough question. Tough enough that when it was asked to former US President George W. Bush, he went blank. I would agree to some that Venus could have answered the question better than her “major, major” statement considering that she graduated Cum Laude. But, what if someone (and not just anyone mind you, but a well known Hollywood actor producer like William Baldwin) asked you the same question. You will surely feel the pressure right there! He isn’t someone you get to meet everyday, right? Considering the fact that he is from Hollywood that is something else. Take a job interview for an instance, and having the company CEO ask you the same question. You will probably sweat your pants too!
Second, we’re talking about the biggest mistake of her life. Venus, I believe, has the exact biggest mistake crystaled in her memory just as like everybody else. Of course, how can you possibly forget the worst regret you ever had? But, how many of you can actually admit that biggest mistake of your life in front of William Baldwin, Donald Trump, Chazz Palminteri, Chynna Phillips, Cris Angel, Evan Lysacek, Jane Seymour, Niki Taylor, Sheila E., Tamron Hall and millions of people around the world? I bet none. Except your family or friends. Committing a mistake is normal. Admitting it is another story. Just like what the analyst in the video said, it is just as hard as saying you’re sorry.
Third, the stress in her shoulders due to current events. Venus recently lost a friend in beauty queen Melody Gersbach due to a car accident. Melody is the one who made her join the pageant and the one picked the clothes she brought in Las Vegas. That alone tears her. Second, Philippines right now as everybody is aware, is in the headlines all over the world due to the hostage killing that led to a bloody end and killed 9 Chinese tourists. When you represent a country that is not of good standing at the moment, you want to do everything to uplift its status. Though of good intentions, sometimes our best is not enough.
In my point of view, Venus could have improved her answer. But, considering the mere fact she was top 5 out of 83 contestants around the world, she did a wonderful job!
A Bob Ong Quote
Why is everybody on the rush of getting married these days? Last year, a lot of my friends tied the knot. Not that I am not supportive of it. I am, in fact, genuinely happy for them. But when I look at their photos, I can’t help but think that teka, kalaro ko lang to sa patintero ah! Or, isn’t she too young for that? Or, didn’t they just meet?!? But alas, when cupid strikes you with “the bow” then you’re in it for good!
The power of love is something no one will ever know. One minute you have none, the next thing you know you have more than you can cope with.
The quote gave me subdivided thoughts. First is our ever changing standard. Within two to three years, what’s hot for us now may not be the same anymore. We may like a certain trait of a person at the moment, and the next thing you know, you are annoyed with it already. But how do we stick to what we like or what we love forever? We don’t. I read in a recent study that a team of scientists conducted, that romantic love involves chemical changes in the brain that last 12 to 18 months. After that, you’re on your own. Relationships require maintenance. A hard maintenance. It is true that we have ever changing thoughts but when you love, and I mean truly love a person, everyday you’ll find a surprise in store for you that you’ll just love. Little things can go a long way. As long as you keep the fire burning, then you’ll have every reason to hold on and not let go.
Second thing about the quote is what I mentioned in the first line of this entry. Why is everybody on the rush of getting married? Just like what my friend Avee said, suddenly we’re no longer pare or dude to our friends but little kids’ ninang or tita! When I reached my 20’s I find it hard to believe that some of the people I get to meet are calling me ate. I mean, I used to call a lot of people ate (older sister) or kuya (older brother). But when I was the one being called with the name already, I sort of… I don’t know… feel old! There I said it. Haaaay- But just when I thought that is a bad thing; running kids began calling me tita (aunt) already. Eeeekk!
Third is the nod I got from my married friends when I’ve shown them this. Is the nod an affirmation? An avowal that no one should dash to the altar? It makes me want to ask them if they are regretting it or what but nah- I’d rather observe and find out why they agreed. Most of my friends who tied the knot are happy. I can pinpoint one or two who weren’t successful but most of them are in total bliss. The nod could mean that they are happy but probably if they have taken more time to decide, they wouldn’t easily go for it. Marriage, I believe is a lot of responsibility. The whole thing doesn’t just end with the hundred thousand worth of a ceremony. It is just a beginning of something bigger. What goes after the wedding is a whole new story. In relationships, when you get tired, you can just quit. In marriage, you can’t just do that. You can’t just drop the lame excuse it’s not you, it’s me or I need more time. You are bided in a sacrament that is holy. You are united under the law of God and of man. You exchanged vows to be there for each other for better or worse. In sickness or in health. For richer or poorer. You have to hold on and fight till the end.
So when is the right time to get married? I guess when you thought about it a thousand times and you know by heart you are ready. Marriage, after all is not just about legalizing a relationship. It is about love, trust, understanding, sincerity and honesty. A lifetime commitment! It is an unconditional dedication to each other. Before you take the plunge, make sure you are with the right person, right time and right reasons before you opt to be bonded for a lifetime.
